        Black Messiah (2LP)

        by D'Angelo And The Vanguard

'Black Messiah' is a labour of love between D'Angelo and his band (including longtime collaborator Questlove) whom he affectionally refers to as The Vanguard.

D'Angelo's album forward perfectly captures the sentiment of the album, a poignant commentary on the state of the world today – yet wrapped in the musical genius of D'Angelo that fans have waited 14 years to hear!

"Black Messiah is a hell of a name for an album. It can be easily misunderstood. Many will think it's about religion. Some will jump to the conclusion that I'm calling myself a Black Messiah. For me the title is about all of us. It's about the world. It's about an idea we can all aspire to. We should all aspire to be a Black Messiah. It's about people rising up in Ferguson and in Egypt and in Occupy Wall Street and everyplace where a community has had enough and decides to make change happen. It's not about praising one charismatic leader but celebrating thousands of them. Not every song on this album is politically charged (though many are) but calling this album Black Messiah creates a landscape where these songs can live to the fullest. Black Messiah is not one man. It's a feeling that, collectively, we are all that leader" - D'Angelo.

        Black Sunday (2LP)

        by Cypress Hill

'We don't need to spend a lot of words on Cypress Hill's second album Black Sunday. The album's flagship song "Insane In The Brain" received major airplay on MTV, and struck a major chord with alternative youth as well as hip hop fans. This is a unique facet of Cypress Hill that sets them apart from other Hip Hop acts that appeal to Hip Hop heads exclusively: Cypress Hill managed to rise above the genre.

Their marijuana filled lyrics, detuned and cleverly found samples (for instance, the horse sound on "Insane In The Brain" is from a 60s children TV-show), funky beats and nasal raps of B Real make Black Sunday a little trip to an early '90s latino ghetto, with a huge fun factor.

His 2012 follow-up VICIOUS LIES AND DANGEROUS RUMORS enamoured tastemakers and fans alike and boasted collaborations with A$AP Rocky, Killer Mike, Kid Cudi, and more. In 2015, Big Boi collaborated with Phantogram to create supergroup Big Grams. Their debut self-titled album was released to critical and fan delight.

Flower Boy (No Text/Bees Version) CD

              by Tyler, The Creator

'Tyler, The Creator is back to share a new single from his forthcoming album FLOWER BOY, available from July 21st via Columbia Records through Sony Music Entertainment Australia. New song ‘Boredom’ features Rex Orange County and Anna Of The North with additional backing vocals from Corinne Bailey Rae. 2017 is shaping up to be a busy year for Tyler, The Creator. Two weeks ago he released the self-directed video for his new A$AP Rocky-featuring song ‘Who Dat Boy’, as well as the audio for a second new song ‘911/ Mr. Lonely’, which features Steve Lacy and Frank Ocean. The 14-song FLOWER BOY features two covers -- one designed by Tyler himself and the other by artist Eric White. It is only fitting that Tyler would commission White, whose paintings have been described by Leah Ollman of The Los Angeles Times as being "nostalgic and at the same time also vaguely futuristic, even dystopian", to visually articulate the world of FLOWER BOY.
