Horses (Legacy Edition) 2CD

Horses (Legacy Edition) 2CD

by Patti Smith

'Horses is the debut studio album by American musician Patti Smith, released in 1975. A fixture of the then-burgeoning New York punk rock music scene, Patti began recording Horses with her band after being signed to Arista Records, with John Cale producing the album. With its fusion of simplistic rock and roll structures and Smith's freeform, beat poetry-infused lyrics, Horses was met with widespread critical acclaim upon its initial release. Horses has since been viewed by critics as one of the greatest and most influential albums in the history of the American punk rock movement, as well as one of the greatest albums of all time. Horses has also been cited as a key influence on a number of succeeding punk, post-punk, and alternative rock acts, including Siouxsie and the Banshees, Courtney Love, The Smiths, and Garbage. The Legacy Edition of features the remastered, original album including Patti's interpretation of the Who's classic 'My Generation'. The second album features the complete Horses album live, with a 'My Generation' encore, recorded at the Royal Festival Hall in London on June 25, 2005.

The Real Royal Albert Hall 1966 Concert (2CD)

For decades, Bob Dylan's performance in Manchester was incorrectly labelled, The Royal Albert Hall Concert. Now, for the first time, the REAL Royal Albert Hall concert, originally recorded for a live album by CBS Records, is finally being released as a standalone 2CD set, titled The Real Royal Albert Hall 1966 Concert. This show is also included in the 1966 Live Recordings box set. Dylan is accompanied on these recordings by Robbie Robertson (guitar), Rick Danko (bass, backing vocals), Richard Manuel (piano), Garth Hudson (organ) and Mickey Jones (drums).

These recordings put a fiery exclamation point on Dylan's great mid-60s creative epoch that produced - in an 18-month span - Bringing It All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited and Blonde On Blonde, the trilogy of album masterpieces which secured Dylan's reputation as a songwriter and performer of unprecedented depth, power and originality while significantly impacting the course of popular music and culture. These concert recordings from the same period document Dylan's evolution as an on-stage phenomenon whose transformative vision saw no limits.
