by Rick Parfitt

When the awful news broke on Christmas Eve 2016 that legendary rocker Rick Parfitt had passed, fans around the world were devastated that one of rock’s most iconic performers had been silenced. However, unknown to almost anyone, Rick had in fact virtually completed his first solo album whilst undergoing a period of recuperation after his heart attack in July. That album, poignantly titled ‘Over And Out’ will be released on 23 March 2018 through earMUSIC

Featuring 10 brand new songs, including the title track that broke hearts anew when it was played at Rick’s funeral, this is an album of depth and passion. Created by Rick Parfitt and Producer Jo Webb, the record is a true labour of love and showcases the softer side of Rick as a writer, artist and performer away from the Quo maelstrom as well as the purest rock and roll sound of earlier Status Quo records.

The new multi-part documentary Elvis Presley: The Searcher, directed by Thom Zimny and airing on HBO on April 14, pushes past the larger-than-life image of The King of Rock and Roll, portraying him instead as a man and an artist “who wanted to heal, to find that thing that was always felt to be missing, and to do it through the music.”
The 3CD deluxe edition box set offers an expanded 55-track overview of Elvis’ career as heard in the film including familiar hit recordings (“Heartbreak Hotel,” “Are You Lonesome Tonight?”), powerful vocal performances (“That’s All Right,” “Tomorrow Is a Long Time,” “Trouble/Guitar Man”) and rare outtakes (“Suspicious Minds,” “Separate Ways”), plus a bonus disc of additional recordings relevant to the film—including singles that inspired Presley (Arthur “Big Boy” Crudup’s original version of “That’s All Right,” Odetta’s gospel version of Bob Dylan’s “Tomorrow is a Long Time”) and two original instrumental pieces composed for the documentary by Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready.
Elvis Presley: The Searcher (The Original Soundtrack) [Deluxe] includes a 40-page book of photos, liner notes by Warren Zanes, and a producers note from film director Thom Zimny.

With the arrival of The Complete Albums Collection, metal fans will now have the definitive collection of Rob Halford’s stellar work outside of the mighty Judas Priest, all in one set.

Platinum: A Life In Music (4CD Bookset)

Platinum: A Life In Music (4CD Bookset)

by Elvis Presley

'Platinum: A Life In Music chronicles the outstanding career of Elvis Presley (1954 to 1977) from a unique perspective. It features 100 performances, 77 of which are previously unreleased. This historic overview traces his development as an artist, and emphasizes how Elvis' music always returned to its unshakable core values. This 4CD box set contains a 48-page book and consists mostly of previously-unreleased alternate takes of Elvis Presley's hits. It's both an education and a kick to hear alternate versions of songs as ingrained in the public consciousness as 'That's All Right', and others from Elvis' legendary Sun sessions. Obscure delights like 1969's 'Power Of My Love' update one of rock & roll's most stellar legacies. Off-the-cuff recordings and live TV performances contribute further to this set, which proves that.

1969 - Dramatis/Ation (2CD/DVD/Blu-Ray)

In 1969 Pink Floyd unveiled their 2-part conceptual live production of ‘The Man’ and ‘The Journey’, covering a 24-hour period of dreaming, waking and other activities. Never released in that form, however some of the songs were used on the ‘More’ soundtrack and the ‘Ummagumma’ album. This volume refers back to ‘The Man’ and ‘The Journey’ tour with live performances in Amsterdam and for the BBC in London, but also includes the bonus tracks from the ‘More’ soundtrack that were used in the film but not on record, plus non-album tracks like the early version of Embryo from the Harvest sampler ‘Picnic’.

Video material includes 20 minutes of ‘The Man’/‘The Journey’ rehearsal at the Royal Festival Hall, directed by Anthony Stern, including Afternoon (Biding My Time), The Beginning (Green Is The Colour), Nightmare (Cymbaline), Beset By Creatures Of The Deep and The End Of The Beginning (the last part of A Saucerful Of Secrets), plus other live performance footage from that year:

1972 - Obfusc/Ation (2CD/2DVD/Blu-Ray)

In 1972 Pink Floyd travelled to Hérouville, north of Paris, to record at Strawberry Studios there, based in the town’s Chateau. In a remarkable two weeks, they wrote and recorded one of their most cohesive albums, ‘Obscured By Clouds’, the soundtrack to Barbet Schroeder’s ‘La Vallée’.

1972 saw the release of ‘Pink Floyd Live At Pompeii’, a film of the band performing without an audience in the historic Roman amphitheatre of Pompeii, directed by Adrian Maben. The video material includes the performances from the ‘Live At Pompeii’ film, edited to new 5.1 audio mixes, plus material from contemporary French TV as well as performances from Brighton Dome in June 1972 and further performances with the Roland Petit ballet company:

This package includes part of the original demos, when the project gestated from ‘Nothing’ to ‘Return Of The Son Of Nothing’, as well as a contemporary BBC session recording.
Audio-visual material includes the original unreleased Quad mix of ‘Echoes’ but also material of live band performances in 1971, including songs performed with Roland Petit and his Marseille ballet company.

1970 - Devi/Ation (2CD/2DVD/Blu-Ray)

At the end of 1969 and in the early part of 1970, Pink Floyd recorded and mixed their contribution to Michelangelo Antonioni’s alternative view of US society, ‘Zabriskie Point’. 3 songs were released on the soundtrack album, and a further 4 in the expanded CD edition in 1997. Never released on one Pink Floyd disc, this volume compiles remixed and updated versions of the ‘Zabriskie Point’ audio material.
In the same year, Pink Floyd scored their first UK Number One album with ‘Atom Heart Mother’, a collaboration with Ron Geesin, and the audio includes the first performance for the BBC, featuring an orchestra and choir, as well as, on DVD, the original Quad mix.
Video material includes a full hour of Pink Floyd performing live at San Francisco cable TV station KQED plus extracts from historic performances of ‘Atom Heart Mother’, and material from French TV coverage of the St. Tropez festival in Southern France.

The Bootleg Servies: Vols 1-3 (5LP Boxset)

It is absolutely humbling, given the quality of the material on this 3-CD, 58-song set, to think that these are the Dylan compositions that DIDN'T make the cut for his albums! Includes long-rumoured songs (“She's Your Lover Now”; “Blind Willie McTell”), alternate versions (of the songs on Blood on the Tracks, for instance), live cuts and more unreleased treasures. A must.

Bob Dylan has always been incredibly prolific, only releasing a fraction of what he records. Such a policy has made him a prime target for bootleggers over the years, finally prompting this sanctioned 1991 triple-disc dive into the Dylan vaults. It consists of rare tracks, unreleased outtakes, early versions of classics ("Times They Are a-Changin‘“, "Like a Rolling Stone“, "I Shall Be Released"), and alternate versions that sometimes cut the originals ("Idiot Wind"). A measure of Dylan's depth is his list of discarded songs ("She's Your Lover Now“, "Blind Willie McTell“, "Series of Dreams") that would be the crown jewels of most catalogues. These 58 tracks serve as a shadow history of one of our most important artists.

The RCA & Artista Album Collection (Boxset)

Lou Reed - The RCA & Arista Album Collection brings together, for the first time in one comprehensive anthology, 16 ground-breaking studio and live album titles written, recorded and often produced by Reed as a solo artist following the dissolution of the Velvet Underground in 1970.

Housed in a limited edition deluxe boxset, the Collection is packaged with an 80 page hardbound book, featuring rarely seen photos and artwork, interviews with Lou Reed throughout his career, memorabilia from Lou's personal archives, an introduction form co-producer and friend Hal Willner, five prints (8"x10") and a rare reproduced RCA promotional poster (598 mm X 572 mm). Each of the 16 albums in the 17CD library was newly remastered under Lou's direct personal supervision, a long-term project completed shortly before the artist's passing, at 71, on October 27, 2013. Lou Reed - The RCA & Arista Album Collection, produced by Lou Reed, Rob Santos, and Hal Willner offers fans access to several titles which have been out-of-print, hard-to-find or unavailable in the CD and digital music eras.

Laurie Anderson, Lou Reed’s wife and partner for twenty-one years said “Lou put his heart into remastering these records. They are not smoothed out. Sometimes remastering revealed their details and roughness in the most exciting ways. They leap out at you with their original energy.

      The Early Years 1965 - 1972 (Boxset)

      The Early Years 1965 - 1972 (Boxset)

      by Pink Floyd

The Early Years 1965 - 1972 is a comprehensive 27-disc boxset that sees Pink Floyd delve into their vast music archive to produce a deluxe package that includes 7 individual book-style volumes, featuring much previously unreleased material. The Early Years box set contains unreleased tracks, BBC Radio Sessions, remixes, outtakes and alternative versions over an incredible 11 hours, 45 mins of audio (made up of 130+ tracks) and live and TV performance in over 14 hours of audio-visual material. The content includes over 20 unreleased songs, more than 7 hours of previously unreleased live audio and over 5 hours of rare concert footage, along with 5 meticulously produced 7” singles in replica sleeves, collectable memorabilia, feature films and new sound mixes. Previously unreleased tracks include 1967’s Vegetable Man and In The Beechwoods, which have been mixed for the first time, specially for this release. The Early Years 1965-1972 will give collectors the opportunity to hear the evolution of the band and witness their part in cultural revolutions from their earliest recordings and studio sessions to the years prior to the release of The Dark Side Of The Moon, one of the biggest selling albums of all time.  From the single Arnold Layne to the 20-minute epic Echoes, fans will see the invention of psychedelic progressive rock via an insightful collection that explores the Pink Floyd story from the time Roger Waters, Richard Wright, Nick Mason and Syd Barrett met at London’s Regent Street Polytechnic, through to Syd’s departure and David Gilmour joining to form the iconic lineup.

The Mono Collection - Vinyl Box Set

        by The Kinks
        Sold out

The Mono Collection packages the first 8 albums in glorious mono, including ‘Live At Kelvin Hall’. The set also includes the bonus double LP compilation ‘The Kinks’ (aka ‘The Black Album’)

PLUS a lavish hardcover 48-page book including never-before-seen photos and new interviews with Ray Davies, Dave Davies and Mick Avory.

With the recent renewed interest in analogue recordings on the vinyl format, these important Kinks albums have been collected together, as their original vintage 1960s equivalents continue to command major sums on the collectors’ market. From the garage guitar snarls of “You Really Got Me”, “All Day And All of The Night” and “I Need You”, the melodic mellotron swirls throughout “Autumn Almanac” and “Days” to the bold brass characterising “Victoria” and “Shangri-La”, the full spectrum of The Kinks In Mono is here to be enjoyed anew.
