Fifty years ago Jimi Hendrix returned to his native country and, in one fell swoop changed the musical landscape for all time. It was the galvanizing, U.S. debut performance of THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE at The Monterey International Pop Festival that propelled Hendrix and his bandmates, Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding, to the top ranks of international rock royalty.

THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE at Monterey is a remarkable visual and aural document that reconfirms what the Monterey audience bore witness to on June 18, 1967: Hendrix's unbridled talent and flair for showmanship are unparalleled in the annals of music.

The set of songs that THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE performed at Monterey was introduced by Brian Jones, THE ROLLING STONES' guitarist whose presence at the festival amounted to a kind of benediction by an acknowledged rock god. He knew full well who he was introducing as Hendrix had moved to London fewer than nine months earlier and achieved icon status in the U.K. in very short order. His conquest of his native land, though, would be achieved almost instantaneously at Monterey.

"The Jimi Hendrix Experience Live At Monterey" offers all existing film footage of that epochal performance presented in its original sequence. The original 16mm camera reversal footage shot by D.A. Pennebaker's Monterey Pop film crew has been transferred to high-definition specs and is presented in its original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.33:1. The DVD soundtrack features new 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo mixes by Eddie Kramer, the engineer so closely associated with the Jimi Hendrix and his legacy, from the original eight-track live recordings made at the concert by remote engineer Wally Heider.

Axis: Bold as Love is the second studio album by Jimi Hendrix Experience. The album was originally released in December 1967.

Axis: Bold as Love was the follow-up to the band's successful debut Are You Experienced, which had been released months earlier in May. It was not released in the United States until 1968.

Axis: Bold as Love has been hailed as "the refinement of white noise into psychedelia ... the finest voodoo album that any rock group has produced to date". Q magazine wrote in a retrospective review that the album "dazzles as the Experience creates a genre probably short-lived because nobody else could play it". “... it is distinguished from his other Hendrix albums as his "coming-of-age-in-songwriting album ... his peak in crafting pop rock perfection".

Carefully restored from the original analog master tapes, and featuring original poster and alternate cover art, the Legacy 2016 edition of the Jimi Hendrix Experience's 'Smash Hits' (created in conjunction with Experience Hendrix L.L.C.) includes timeless classics like "Purple Haze," "Hey Joe," "Red House" (a different take from the UK Are You Experienced version), "Fire" plus 8 more essential Hendrix tracks.

This exclusive 2016 edition of 'Smash Hits' includes a recreation of the poster that came with the original U.S. LP release, depicting band members Jimi Hendrix, Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding dressed in western attire on horseback. The photograph, taken by Grammy-winning photographer Ed Thrasher (Grateful Dead, Neil Young, the Beach Boys) at Warner Bros. film studios in Burbank, CA in early 1969, was conceived as sleeve art for the album.  First released in 1969, Smash Hits has proved to be immensely popular, serving as a critical introduction to the Hendrix canon for successive generations of fans. Now, for the first time ever, Thrasher's photo finally graces the cover of Smash Hits, as originally intended.
