Electric Ladyland 50th Anniversay Deluxe Edition (6LP/BLU-RAY)
Release Date: 9th November 2018

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the release of the Jimi Hendrix Experience masterpiece Electric Ladyland, Sony Music Entertainment are releasing the Electric Ladyland Deluxe Edition box set on November 9. Available as a 6LP/1 Blu-ray set, the vinyl package include the original double album, now newly remastered by Bernie Grundman from the original analogue tapes. For the LP set, Grundman prepared an all analogue direct to disc vinyl transfer of the album, preserving the authenticity. Also included in Electric Ladyland Deluxe Edition is:

Electric Ladyland: The Early Takes, which presents demos and studio outtakes from this period in Hendrix’s career, plus a new 5.1 surround sound mix of the entire original album by Hendrix’s original engineer Eddie Kramer. This marks the first and only time this has been done with a Hendrix studio album, and gives listeners the original stereo mixes in uncompressed 24 bit/96 kz high resolution audio.

The previously unreleased live album Jimi Hendrix Experience: Live At the Hollywood Bowl 9/14/68, part of Experience Hendrix’s official ‘bootleg’ series. This live album documents their triumphant Los Angeles concert held a few weeks before Electric Ladyland was released.

At Last… The Beginning: The Making of Electric Ladyland (Blu-ray) documents the creation of the legendary double album.  Some of Jimi’s closest associates are seen on screen discussing their first-hand recollections of Hendrix and the project.

Lastly, Electric Ladyland Deluxe Edition includes a full colour, 48-page book containing Jimi’s handwritten lyrics, poem and instructions to his record label, as well as never before published photos from the recording sessions that were shot by Eddie Kramer himself.

Experience Hendrix, Legacy Recordings, and Sony Music Entertainment, proudly release Both Sides of the Sky, a dynamic new Jimi Hendrix album featuring 13 studio recordings made between 1968 and 1970 - 10 of which have never before been released.

Both Sides of the Sky is the third volume in a trilogy of albums intended to present the best and most significant unissued studio recordings remaining in the music legend’s archive. Beginning with Valleys of Neptune (2010), and followed by People, Hell and Angels (2013). This third release is anticipated to complete the spectacular recording event in epic fashion.

Recorded between January 1968 and February 1970, Jimi’s desire to push the boundaries of blues music can be heard throughout. Both Sides of the Sky additionally highlights Jimi’s mastery of studio production and his increasing use of these facilities as a proving ground for new sounds, material, and techniques.

Both Sides of the Sky also features an assortment of notable guest musicians, including Stephen Stills, Johnny Winter, and Lonnie Youngblood.

Both Sides of the Sky was produced by Janie Hendrix, John McDermott, and Eddie Kramer. Kramer served as recording engineer on every Jimi Hendrix album made during the artist’s life. In order to preserve the integrity and continuity of the Hendrix legacy, this same team has produced every Jimi Hendrix audio and visual release since 1996.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience disbanded after three albums, but Jimi quickly formed a new band with bassist Billy Cox and his drummer friend Buddy Miles; the Band Of Gypsys. Musically the Band of Gypsys leaned more towards Jimi's funk/R&B roots than the psychedelic rock sound of the Experience.  The Band Of Gypsys made their live debut at the Fillmore East on New Year's Eve, 1969, for a series of four shows spread over two nights. A compilation of these shows saw the light as the eponymous live album Band of Gypsys. Containing definitive versions of "Machine Gun" and "Who Knows"!

In The West consists of live recordings from the two incarnations of The Jimi Hendrix Experience, including his legendary Isle Of Wight Festival performance in 1970, where he created a live medley of "God Save The Queen" and "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" with a stunned Paul McCartney in the audience. In The West was the first live album to be released after Jimi's untimely death.

In The West includes three bonus tracks that have never been released before, along with a booklet of unpublished photographs by Jim Marshall, who was also responsible for the iconic cover artwork.

Originally released in 1994, the Jimi Hendrix Blues album features 11 blues performances recorded by Jimi between 1966 and 1970 showcasing the guitarist's mastery of the 12-bar form. This double-LP audiophile edition of Blues is arguably the best packaged, richest sounding, most coherent post-mortem release from the Hendrix archives.

Framed by his 1967 acoustic 12-string rendition of "Hear My Train 'A Comin'" and a 1970 Trio performance of the same song, these 11 rough and ready tracks illustrate Hendrix's deep spiritual connections to his blues roots and his daring experimental take on the shape of future blues to come. And they've never sounded so vital, necessary or dynamic. This 2LP version will forever stand as the definitive-sounding, high-performance edition of this historic collection.

Jimi Hendrix's show at the Community Theater in Berkeley on May 30, 1970 has always been the stuff of legends.

Although much of the performance has been bootlegged to within an inch of its life, it wasn't until 2003 that the second show of the evening was officially released. Mainly because it has remained in high demand, Music On Vinyl decided to re-release the album on 180 gram audiophile vinyl.

His signature songs "Hey Joe", "Foxy Lady", "Purple Haze" and "Voodoo Child" sound absolutely stunning, but it's Jimi's solo on "Stone Free" and the tracks "I Don't Live Today" and "Machine Gun" that take you into the stratosphere.

Fifty years ago Jimi Hendrix returned to his native country and, in one fell swoop changed the musical landscape for all time. It was the galvanizing, U.S. debut performance of THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE at The Monterey International Pop Festival that propelled Hendrix and his bandmates, Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding, to the top ranks of international rock royalty.

THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE at Monterey is a remarkable visual and aural document that reconfirms what the Monterey audience bore witness to on June 18, 1967: Hendrix's unbridled talent and flair for showmanship are unparalleled in the annals of music.

The set of songs that THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE performed at Monterey was introduced by Brian Jones, THE ROLLING STONES' guitarist whose presence at the festival amounted to a kind of benediction by an acknowledged rock god. He knew full well who he was introducing as Hendrix had moved to London fewer than nine months earlier and achieved icon status in the U.K. in very short order. His conquest of his native land, though, would be achieved almost instantaneously at Monterey.

"The Jimi Hendrix Experience Live At Monterey" offers all existing film footage of that epochal performance presented in its original sequence. The original 16mm camera reversal footage shot by D.A. Pennebaker's Monterey Pop film crew has been transferred to high-definition specs and is presented in its original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.33:1. The DVD soundtrack features new 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo mixes by Eddie Kramer, the engineer so closely associated with the Jimi Hendrix and his legacy, from the original eight-track live recordings made at the concert by remote engineer Wally Heider.

FIRST RAYS OF THE NEW RISING SUN (2LP)

“First Rays of the New Rising Sun”, first released in 1997, is an attempt to recreate the album Jimi Hendrix was working on at the time of his death in 1970, as close as is feasible to how he would have wanted it (based on recordings and notes he made during the last months of his life).  Tracks for this album ranged from finished to skeletal at the time of Hendrix's death. Much of the material had been recorded over the summer of 1970 at Jimi's just-completed Electric Lady Studios in New York City. “First Rays” was the first of a series posthumous albums with hiqh-quality sought-after rarities and other previously unreleased music, released by the Jimi Hendrix Estate.

This 4-CD set consists entirely of unreleased/unavailable Jimi, both studio and live performances amounting to (gulp!) over four hours and 56 tracks! There are four newly discovered songs never heard anywhere else, plus alternate versions of such Hendrix favourites as Purple Haze; Hey Joe; Stone Free , and an instrumental version of Little Wing . Then there's the live gems, like a live-in-France 1967 rendition of The Wind Cries Mary, and live-in-the studio rehearsals, like a crushing rendition of Gloria done in Hollywood in late October 1968.

Experience Hendrix/Legacy Recordings will reissue two long-unavailable albums in the extraordinary discography of Jimi Hendrix: The Cry Of Love and Rainbow Bridge. First released in 1971, The Cry Of Love revealed the new music Hendrix had been preparing for First Rays Of The New Rising Sun, the ambitious double album the guitarist was working on at the time of his death. Featuring favourites like “Angel” and “Freedom,” The Cry Of Love was compiled and mixed by Hendrix’s longtime engineer Eddie Kramer and drummer Mitch Mitchell. The Cry Of Love reached the Top 5 of the music charts on both sides of the Atlantic. For many fans, The Cry Of Love served as the first introductions to this boundary stretching material—recordings that saw Hendrix take fullest control of his musical gifts, writing, recording and producing the balance of these works from his newly-constructed Electric Lady Studios in New York City. To this day, they remain a significant signpost in Hendrix’s catalogue: a reflection of the public’s interest in more material from the iconic performer in the wake of his death, and the first public expression of his latest evolution as an artist.

Axis: Bold as Love is the second studio album by Jimi Hendrix Experience. The album was originally released in December 1967.

Axis: Bold as Love was the follow-up to the band's successful debut Are You Experienced, which had been released months earlier in May. It was not released in the United States until 1968.

Axis: Bold as Love has been hailed as "the refinement of white noise into psychedelia ... the finest voodoo album that any rock group has produced to date". Q magazine wrote in a retrospective review that the album "dazzles as the Experience creates a genre probably short-lived because nobody else could play it". “... it is distinguished from his other Hendrix albums as his "coming-of-age-in-songwriting album ... his peak in crafting pop rock perfection".

Carefully restored from the original analog master tapes, and featuring original poster and alternate cover art, the Legacy 2016 edition of the Jimi Hendrix Experience's 'Smash Hits' (created in conjunction with Experience Hendrix L.L.C.) includes timeless classics like "Purple Haze," "Hey Joe," "Red House" (a different take from the UK Are You Experienced version), "Fire" plus 8 more essential Hendrix tracks.

This exclusive 2016 edition of 'Smash Hits' includes a recreation of the poster that came with the original U.S. LP release, depicting band members Jimi Hendrix, Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding dressed in western attire on horseback. The photograph, taken by Grammy-winning photographer Ed Thrasher (Grateful Dead, Neil Young, the Beach Boys) at Warner Bros. film studios in Burbank, CA in early 1969, was conceived as sleeve art for the album.  First released in 1969, Smash Hits has proved to be immensely popular, serving as a critical introduction to the Hendrix canon for successive generations of fans. Now, for the first time ever, Thrasher's photo finally graces the cover of Smash Hits, as originally intended.
