Hailing from Sydney’s sunny Northern Beaches, L D R U – AKA Drew Carmody – turned to music production after suffering a debilitating back injury during his late teens. In his recovery, L D R U spent enough time finely tuning his compositions and ultimately engineered his distinct sound that would eventually go on to captivate his city, his country, and fans from all corners.

This distinct sound, what L D R U describes as “trapical,” bounced through his debut 2013 single The Tropics, released via Sydney’s Future Classic label. It was this breakthrough single that made waves and caught the attention of artists including Skrillex, A-Track, Diplo and What So Not. Since then L D R U has released 3 big singles ‘Keeping Score’, ‘Next To You’ and ‘To Be Free’ and is readying his debut EP “Sizzlar”. 

‘Keeping Score’, featuring Paige IV, has been certified double platinum in Australia and hit the Top 15 on the ARIA chart. ‘Keeping Score’ came in at #22 on the triple j Hottest 100 2016, has been streamed a mammoth 13 million times since release and helped L D R U secure 3 ARIA nominations at the 2016 ARIAs (Apple Music Song Of The Year, Breakthrough Artist and Best Dance Release). Gold accredited ‘Next To You’ as well as ‘To Be Free’ were both triple j favourites and combined with ‘Keeping Score’ have accumulated a huge 20 million streams for L D R U. 

After his national KEEPING SCORE AUSTRALIA TOUR in July 2016, L D R U performed a stellar show at Splendour In The Grass and the Listen Out Festival national tour and Falls Festival to rave reviews. Previously, L D R U has made appearances on some of Australia’s leading festival line-ups including Future Music, Big Day Out and Field Day, as well as support slots for Peking Duk and triple j host Nina Las Vegas on her NLV Presents tour.
