CONCRETE AND GOLD (VINYL)

by Foo Fighters
$36.95
‘Concrete And Gold’ is the Foo’ Fighters ninth studio album and was written and performed by Foo Fighters, produced by Greg Kurstin and Foo Fighters, and mixed by Darrell Thorp.

“I wanted it to be the biggest sounding Foo Fighters record ever. To make a gigantic rock record but with Greg Kurstin’s sense of melody and arrangement… Motorhead’s version of Sgt. Pepper… or something like that.”
So speaks Dave Grohl of the mission statement made manifest in Foo Fighters’ ninth epic, the aptly-titled Concrete and Gold

Just as Foo Fighters’ anthem of the summer “Run” “opens as a dreamy, slow burner then… quickly turns heavy as thunder” (BILLBOARD) with its “huge triumphant chorus” (STEREOGUM), Concrete and Gold marries some of the most insanely heavy FF riffs ever with lush harmonic complexities courtesy of a first time team-up with producer Greg Kurstin.

Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace (Vinyl)

'Dave Grohl has mentioned Steely Dan as a big influence on the Foo Fighters during the making of their sixth album, and after an advance listen to September 25’s Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace, we know why: Echoes has a distinct ’70s-rock undercurrent. There are sonic references to early-’70s Zeppelin, late-era Beatles and Bruce Springsteen tossed throughout the otherwise typically loud, brawny and stadium-ready power tunes - Rolling Stone

'One By One' is the fourth studio album by Foo Fighters, first released on October 22, 2002 by RCA. Production on the album was troubled, with initial recording sessions considered unsatisfying and raising tensions between the band members. They eventually decided to redo the album from scratch during a two-week period at frontman Dave Grohl's home studio in Alexandria, Virginia. The songs on the album, which include the successful singles "All My Life" and "Times Like These," have been noted for their introspective lyrics and a heavier and more aggressive sound compared to the band's earlier work, which Grohl said was intended to translate the energy of the Foo Fighters' live performances into a recording.

'Wasting Light' is the seventh studio album by Foo Fighters. First released on April 12, 2011 on RCA Records, it is the first album to feature rhythm guitarist Pat Smear since 1997's 'The Colour & The Shape.' Produced by Butch Vig and mixed by Alan Moulder, 'Wasting Light' was recorded entirely on analog tape in the garage of Grohl's home in California's San Fernando Valley. The no computers/no software back to basics approach has resulted in arguably the strongest and most cohesive effort of the band's 15-year-plus career. From first single "Rope," to the frenetic opener "Bridge Burning," to the beautifully bipolar "These Days," to stunning guest spots from Bob Mould (Dear Rosemary) and Krist Novoselic (I Should Have Known), 'Wasting Light' is a singular triumph: a band that's headlined arenas, stadiums and festivals the world over stripping itself down to the bare essentials and coming up with a world class band's finest hour.

When one of the loudest bands in rock switches gears and shows its not-so-loud side, you can't help but listen. Highlighting the acoustic-flavored songs from disc two of the platinum-plus 2005 double album In Your Honor, Foo Fighters' new live CD also features unqiue interpretations of favorites from the band's entire career. Recorded at the Pantages Thearer in Los Angeles, Skin And Bones features the Foo Fighters performing with guest players Petra Haden (violin) and Rami Jaffee (keyboards), as well as Drew Hester (percussion) and former Foo Fighter Pat Smear (guitar).

In Your Honor is the fifth studio album by Foo Fighters, released in June 2005. It is a double album, with one side containing heavy rock songs and the second side with mellower acoustic songs. In Your Honor would inspire their Skin and Bones acoustic tour, as well as the more traditional Foo Fighters sets, as seen as part of their Hyde Park tour. Frontman Dave Grohl decided to do a diverse blend of songs as he felt that after ten years of existence, the band had to break new ground with their music. The album was recorded at a newly built studio in Northridge, Los Angeles, and featured guests such as John Paul Jones, Norah Jones and Josh Homme.

The Colour And The Shape (2LP)

The Colour And The Shape (2LP)

$39.99

'The Colour And The Shape' is the sophomore studio album by Foo Fighters, and is the "must have" of the Fooies collection! Produced by Gil Norton, 'The Colour And The Shape' was released through Capitol Records and the group's own Roswell Records on May 20, 1997. The record is the debut of the Foo Fighters as a group, as the band's previous record, 'Foo Fighters' (1995), was primarily recorded by frontman Dave Grohl and friend Barrett Jones as a demo. Primarily inspired by Grohl's divorce from photographer Jennifer Youngblood in 1996, the lyricism on the record is substantially more introspective and the music more developed. The album's track listing was designed to resemble a therapy session, splitting the album between up-tempo tracks and ballads, reflecting conflicting emotions. Main singles "Monkey Wrench," "Everlong" and "My Hero" peaked within the top ten on United States rock radio, and the album charted at number three in the United Kingdom.

'Foo Fighters' is the debut studio album by American alternative rock band Foo Fighters, first released on July 4, 1995, by Capitol Records through Dave Grohl's label Roswell. Grohl wrote and recorded the entire album himself – with the exception of a guest guitar spot by Greg Dulli – with the assistance of producer Barrett Jones at Robert Lang Studios in Seattle, Washington, in 1994. Grohl claimed he recorded the album just for fun, describing it as a cathartic experience to recover from the death of his Nirvana bandmate, Kurt Cobain. The albums was buoyed by singles "This Is a Call" and "Big Me"

Though not a soundtrack album by any stretch, ‘Sonic Highways’ shares its title with the Dave Grohl-directed eight-episode HBO series described by Grohl as a love letter to the history of American music. For the album and series, Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear wrote and recorded one song in each of these eight cities, delving into the local musical currents: how each region shaped these musicians in their formative years, and in turn the impact those people had on the cultural fabric of their hometowns. All songs feature local legends sitting in, with every lyric written in an unprecedented experimental style: Dave held off on putting down words until the last day of each session, so as to be inspired by the experiences, interviews for the HBO series, and other local personalities who became part of the process.
