THREE DECADES OF BEING ‘BAD’ WITH THE KING OF POP

The legendary Michael Jackson released one of his career-defining albums Bad thirty years ago, which was just five years after the release of his sixth studio album Thriller, which remains the world’s best selling album, with well over 66 million copies worldwide.

Bad showcases the “King of Pop” exercising more creative freedom, further perpetuating his overwhelming commercial success throughout the 1980s, winning two of his nominated six Grammy awards. Nine of the album’s eleven tracks were released as singles and the album peaked at number one in over thirteen countries.

Bad has sold an estimated 35 million copies worldwide and in 2017 was certified Diamond, denoting sales over ten million in the United States. It houses some of Jackson’s most acclaimed and popular hits such as ‘Man In The Mirror’, ‘Dirty Diana’, ‘Smooth Criminal’ as well as the title track.
