Celebrating its thirtieth birthday this year is electronic sextet Depeche Mode’s sixth studio album Music For The Masses, which was co-produced with David Bascombe who had previously worked with the likes of Peter Gabriel and Tears For Fears.

The album was certified Platinum in the United States, with a strong positive reception from critics, complimenting the maturity of the song writing and lyrical symbolism. Retrospective reviews cite Music For The Masses as being a defining record for Depeche Mode, being described as uncertain and contemplative.

Music For The Masses spawned four successful singles; ‘Little 15’, ‘Strangelove’, ‘Behind The Wheel’ and ‘Never Let Me Down Again’ the latter of which soon became a fan-favourite with many shows among the band’s 1988 tour concluding with the track.
